Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution requires that an applicant be of "direct lineal bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence." The patriotic service could have been performed in either a military or civil capacity. Membership is formed through local chapters by invitation only.
A prospective member must be able to provide documentation for all generations from the Revolutionary ancestor to the applicant. Depending on your particular situation, this can be an easy or a frustrating task. We are here to help! There are many resources available, both online and in the Augusta area.
